SMETA- Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit

This is a certification which is designed to benefit retailers and consumer brands and their suppliers, reducing duplication of effort in ethical trade auditing. TexStyle Lanka Exports (Pvt) Ltd obtained SMETA approved certification in March, 2013.

SMETA incorporates 3 elements

  1. A common best practice guidance on conducting ethical trade audits
  2. A common audit report format
  3. A common corrective plan

SMETA guidance and report format were developed by Sedex Associates Auditors Group in response to the challenge from Sedex members to provide a report format for ethical trade audits that could be more easily shared and to give greater transparency into the auditor qualifications and practices that underpin reports.
